LaJUST EIDSS is WTF approved Electronic Protector (EP). To ensure Taekwondo remains viable as an Olympic sport, it needs to embrace new technology so that it can raise the standard of the sport through improved transparency.

What is the benefit of EP?

EP allows for a clearer and fairer competition. The most unpleasant experience in a Taekwondo competition is when the result is in dispute.

In Oceania, we have clean and world class referees. However, in a regular competition, referees are required to perform long, laborious and under-appreciated task of manual scoring. Because refereeing requires intense concentration, after often long and intensive sessions, referees may make unintentional human errors.

EP is designed to solve this problem. EP being a machine is not influenced by both fatigue and distractions.

Does the EP replace the role of a referee?

NO! This is the most misunderstood myth. EP is not designed to replace referees. EP is designed to compliment the referees by removing the non-refereeing, low value added task. This allows the referees to focus on their actual role of officiating the game, protecting the competitors and ensuring fair play. There is no other major international sport where you have professionally trained referee pushing button to keep score! In fact, EP will make refereeing job even more enjoyable!

So why LaJUST - EDISS?

LaJUST EIDSS is the WTF approved EP. It complies with all Taekwondo technical specifications. Unlike other EP, which scores on impact or proximity, LaJUST EIDSS uses highly advanced and calibrated electronic sensors that transmit only valid strikes to the scoring system, which greatly enhanced scoring compared to other EPs.

Does EP add cost to running a competition?

Using EP does represent additional cost for the competition. However, we should take into consideration the benefits of using EP. EP produces more transparent results and makes Taekwondo competition a more enjoyable experience for all participants. It is also a good investment to ensure our athletes perform well in futureWTF-sanctioned international events, including the Olympics.
